Songwick Play now

Privacy

Last changed 29 October 2026.

Songwick is a small game run by the Songwick team ("we"). We keep as little about you as we can. This page says what we keep, why, and for how long, in plain words.

If you play without signing in

If you play online as a guest, your game is saved on our server so you can share the world with other players. A small cookie (a random code) finds your game again. We keep your guest game for 7 days after you last play, then delete it. If you sign in, your guest game can move into your account. If you clear your cookies, we can't find your guest game again. To stop bots, we use a scrambled code made from your IP address for one minute; we never keep it, and it changes every day. Our backup copies are deleted after 30 days. Other players see the name you typed and where you walk, only while you play. A game you played alone in your browser stays on your own device.

To count guest visits, we keep a short note of each visit: the name you typed, when you played and for how long, the last place you were in the game, your device type (phone or computer), the graphics setting and how smoothly the game ran. We also keep a code made from your game's id (not your game, and not the id itself). It lets us count the visits of one game together, and see if that game later moves into an account. We delete these notes after 90 days. We never keep your IP address with them.

If you sign in

What we keepWhyHow long
Which sign-in you used (Google or Discord) and the id number it gives us. Not your email, and not your real name. To know it is you next time. Until you delete your account.
The name you choose in the game. So other players can see who you are. Until you delete your account.
Your game save (your character, items, levels, and the settings that go with you to any device). So you can play on any device. Until you delete your account.
A sign-in cookie and when you last used it. To keep you signed in. 30 days after you last play.
Your invite link's short code, and, if you came through a friend's link, which account invited you. So you and your friend get the reward (the title Good Friend) when your friend reaches the level. Until you delete your account.
Your trades with other players (what was given and got). So you can look back at them, and so we can fix problems. Only your most recent trades, until you delete your account.
Your guild: which guild you are in, your rank, when you joined and when you were last seen, your guild invites and requests, and the guild's own log (names only). So your guild works: its member list, its chat and its ranks. Until you leave the guild or delete your account. The guild's log: 90 days. Invites and requests: 7 days.
Chat messages. To keep the game safe when someone is reported. 30 days.
Reports about players (who, why, a few chat lines around it). To check the report and act on it. The chat lines: 30 days after we finish with the report. The report: 90 days after.
What our helpers did (a mute, a ban, a name change) and why. To be fair and to undo mistakes. 1 year.

Problem reports

When you use Report a problem, we keep what you wrote, the game's version, the time, your game name (if you are signed in, or if you type one), and your browser's name and version. We use it only to fix the game, and delete it after 180 days.

Play numbers

The game counts play numbers, like time played and the skills used, to make the game better. These numbers never hold personal details.

What we do not keep or do

  • We never ask for your email, your password or your address.
  • Our game does not save your IP address. But the web server in front of the game keeps a normal list of visits, and this list has your IP address in it. We keep it for a short period, to keep the site working and safe.
  • No ads. We do not follow you on other sites. We never sell your data.
  • We do not read your Google or Discord messages, friends or files. We only ask for the basic sign-in.

Your browser

The game keeps your settings (sound, graphics, the last tab you opened) and, if you are not signed in, your save, in your browser's own storage. You can clear it at any time in your browser's settings. If you open a friend's invite link, a small cookie keeps the friend's code for 30 days, or until you make an account. If you play online as a guest, a guest cookie finds your guest game, for 7 days after you last play.

Backups

We copy the game's data once a night so nothing is lost if something breaks. Each copy is deleted after 30 days. So when you delete your account, it is gone from the game at once, and from every backup within 30 days.

Who else is involved

  • Google or Discord, when you sign in with them. Their own privacy rules apply there.
  • The game runs on a private server that we rent space on. Only the Songwick team can read the game's data.
  • Discord: a short copy of each problem report (what happened, where, the game's version and the time) goes to our team's private Discord channel, so we see it quickly. Never your address or your email.

Your choices

  • Delete your account in the game: Settings, Account, Delete my account. Your save, your name and your sign-in link are deleted at once.
  • To ask for a copy of your data, or to fix something, use Report a problem or write to support@songwick.com. We answer within 30 days.

Children

Songwick online is for players aged 13 and over. If we learn that a younger child has an account, we delete it.
